Overture Films hires Garelik

Exec new senior VP for theatrical distribution

Overture Films has hired veteran exec Matt Garelik as senior VP for theatrical distribution as it preps its first films for release.

Garelik’s responsible for Overture’s Western distribution and will be based at the banner’s Beverly Hills offices. He’s reporting to exec VP of theatrical distribution Kyle Davies.

Garelik has been VP of client services at Nielsen EDI, where he was responsible for developing and maintaining business with domestic theatrical distribution, exhibition, and various Nielsen clients. He spent nearly a decade working for Fox as a branch manager and previously worked at Disney and Savoy as a sales manager.

Davies and marketing chief Peter Adee plan to make additional staffing announcements in the coming weeks to round out their marketing and distribution departments.

Overture most recently greenlit “Last Chance Harvey,” starring Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson. Its slate includes “Ferris Wheel,” “105 Degrees and Rising” and “Mad Money.”
