Film based on yet-to-be-written book
Based on a 10-page proposal, Nickelodeon Movies has made a preemptive buy of “Bro-Jitsu: The Martial Art of Sibling Rivalry,” a book that will be written by Daniel H. Wilson.Rosen-Obst Productions partners Marc Rosen and Lynda Obst will produce. Wilson will write the screenplay. “Bro-Jitsu,” which will be published by Bloomsbury, will be an illustrated combat guidebook that combines elements of a 1970s Kung Fu manual with Machiavelli’s manifesto “The Prince,” laying out physical and psychological tactics that will make a sibling’s life unbearable. Deal marks a series of firsts: It’s the first literary acquisition made for Nickelodeon Movies by topper Scott Aversano and the first buy by Rosen since he left Heyday to partner with Obst. It’s also the first deal brokered by manager Justin Manask since he left IPG to go solo. Wilson’s book “How to Survive a Robot Uprising” is being adapted at Paramount by the “Balls of Fury” team of Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant.
