MUNICH — William Friedkin is to be feted at the 25th Munich Film Fest in June.
U.S. helmer will receive a CineMerit gong and be treated to a gala screening of his latest pic “Bug.”
Friedkin served a stint at the Bavarian State opera last November directing Strauss’ “Salome” and Wolfgang Rihm’s “The Enclosure.”
The CineMerit Award is given to international filmmakers for their outstanding contribution to the art of cinema. Friedkin is, a fest spokesperson said, “one of Hollywood’s living legends.”
Guests at this year’s fest, which runs June 22-30, include Werner Herzog and Richard Linklater.
