Film London has launched a production finance market, which will run Oct. 22-23 as part of the London Film Festival.
Event will bring British producers together with financiers from the U.K., Europe and other international territories. The organizers expect to invite more than 100 participants, including private equity and hedge fund managers, banks and tax funds.
Although the market is designed for experienced producers, there will be an opportunity for a dozen or so new producers to attend for training purposes.
Film London CEO Adrian Wootton said, “At a time when new forms of financing and significant structural and technological changes are taking place in the U.K. film industry, the need for such a market is particularly evident.”
Producer Andrew Eaton, who is vice chairman of the U.K. Film Council, added, “There’s never been a better moment to secure the financial future of the British film industry, and this market should become one of the pillars of that process.”
