Pic is star's second as director
CANNES — Sultry thesp Sophie Marceau brought a touch of French glamour to the Croisette Thursday where she came to tub-thump “Trivial,” her sophomore pic as a helmer.
Pic is a thriller whose action takes place in and around Deauville’s Hotel Normandie, a fave haunt with American movie folk who descend on the establishment en masse every year during the seaside resort’s annual Festival of American Film.
Gallic distrib SND releases “Trivial” on 230 French screens May 23. Marceau, who gave a star turn as a baddie in “Casino Royale,” is shooting the French WWII thriller “Female Agents” in which she plays a daring resistance fighter. After that she intends to get working on her next helming project.
“I don’t want only to satisfy other people’s desires,” she purred, “I have desires of my own, and making my own films satisfies them.”
