The prominent Indian distrib’s acquisition of the Italo pics follows an official trip to India made in January by a commercial delegation led by Prime Minister Romano Prodi. RAI Trade is the sales arm of Italian pubcaster RAI.
Italo films that will be soon available to Indian auds include Michele Placido’s ghost pic “Wherever You Are,” Alessandro D’Alatri’s social drama “The Fever” and Pupi Avati’s romancer “The Second Wedding Night.”
“This is our beachhead into a market that will be the Asian satellite and cable TV leader by 2010,” RAI Trade executive vice president Alba Calia said in a statement.
