GreeneStreet Films International acquired worldwide sales rights to “Expired,” a Sundance entry that will close the Critics’ Week sidebar in Cannes this month.
Pic stars Samantha Morton as Claire, a meter maid on the Westside of L.A. Jason Patric is her dyspeptic colleague and love interest. The cast also includes Teri Garr and lleana Douglas.
Written and directed by Cecilia Miniucchi, “Expired” is the only American film in Critics’ Week in Cannes. It drew mostly favorable reviews after screening out of competition at Sundance. Its producers are Jeffrey Coulter and “The Godfather” trilogy’s Fred Roos.
GreeneStreet, which does not have an overall distribution deal with any company, is selling territories for many other pics in Cannes, including “Tenderness,” starring Russell Crowe, and “The Nines,” starring Ryan Reynolds and Hope Davis.
