Screening part of 2010 World Cup

“More Than Just a Game,” about political prisoners playing soccer at Robben Island prison, where Nelson Mandela was held, will world preem in Durban on Nov. 23 as part of the 2010 World Cup soccer preliminary draw.

The tourney, the first staged in Africa, will be held in South Africa, and world soccer governing body FIFA is backing the film as an example of an inspirational story that shows how soccer “can be much more than just a game.”

The film is directed by Junaid Ahmed and stars Presley Chweneyagae (“Tsotsi”). It’s produced by Anant Singh and Helena Spring for Videovision Entertainment in association with Telkom Media, Filmex, Distant Horizon and the National Film and Video Foundation of South Africa.
