Focus Features will finance and distribute Jim Jarmusch’s next pic, tentatively titled “The Limits of Control.”
Isaach De Bankole will play a mysterious loner used to operating outside the law, who is about to complete a job in contempo Spain. Other thesps with international appeal — De Bankole was born in Africa and discovered in Paris — will be named soon.
Pic, skedded to begin lensing in Spain next February, marks the second collaboration between the writer-director and Focus. U’s specialty arm picked up worldwide rights to “Broken Flowers” before it began production, and it went on to become Jarmusch’s top grossing feature.
Stacey Smith and Gretchen McGowan will produce. Jon Kilik will exec produce.
Focus has a busy upcoming slate, including Joe Wright’s “Atonement,” which has already debuted in the U.K., the Coen brothers’ “Burn After Reading” starring George Clooney and “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day.”
