Focus shifts three to VPs

Carbone, Gulko, Thorpe upped in publicity

NEW YORK — Focus Features has promoted three to veepee status in publicity. V.J. Carbone, Harlan Gulko and Kyle Thorpe have been upped, and Omar Gonzales has joined Focus as senior publicist in its East Coast publicity department.

Carbone and Gulko both held the title of director of national publicity while based on the East Coast and the West Coast, respectively. Thorpe was promoted from director of field publicity. Gulko and Thorpe both worked on the campaign for “Brokeback Mountain”; Carbone worked on “The Constant Gardener.”

Gonzales joins the company from DreamWorks Pictures, where he worked on “Old School,” among others.

Gulko, Carbone and Thorpe will report directly to Adriene Bowles, president of worldwide publicity and executive vice president of marketing for Focus.
