Focus Features has scooped up “Vanished,” a political thriller pitch that Hany Abu-Assad, director of the Oscar-nommed “Paradise Now,” is attached to direct.
Circle of Confusion’s Noah Rosen and David Alpert are producing. Eilis Kirwan and Larysa Kondracki are penning the global thriller said to recall elements of Ron Howard’s “The Missing.”
Scribes have another political thriller, “The Whistleblower,” set up at HBO Films, with Kondracki slated to direct. Kirwan will helm her debut feature, “Lovely Girls,” in Ireland next year. Samson Films’ Martina Niland, who produced Sundance award winner “Once,” is producing “Lovely Girls.”
