Swedish production company Film i Vast is once again using the Cannes film festival to showcase its product, this time its international co-prods.
“It is a very conscious strategy. From our co-productions with Denmark, we are now looking at Ireland, Germany, France and the U.K.,” said head of development Bengt Toll.
French-Swedish co-prod “Les Grandes personnes,” directed by tyro helmer Anna Norion starring Jean-Pierre Darroussin and Judith Henry, will shoot entirely on Sweden’s west coast.
Among the pics on its slate are Danish co-prod “Ma salma jansil,” based on Islamic protests over the Muhammad cartoons last year; helmer Simon Staho’s new film, “The Heart of Heaven”; “Princess” helmer Anders Morgenthaler’s “Ekko”; the Irish co-prod “Kisses”; the Irish-British-Swedish sci-fier “Summer of the Flying Saucer,” and Lukas Moodysson’s previously announced “Mammoth.”
Film i Vast will spend 55 million kroner ($8 million) in productions that in total cost $90 million.
