Toronto's Handling to share perspective on fest biz
Toronto Film Festival head Piers Handling will deliver the keynote at the fourth Intl. Film Festival Summit Dec. 2-4 in Las Vegas.
He is expected to share his perspective on the fest industry along with what opportunities and challenges are on the horizon.
Handling joined what was originally known as the Festival of Festivals in 1982 as a programmer. Through the years, the org expanded its programming year-round, eventually becoming known as the Toronto Intl. Film Festival Group. He has been director and CEO since 1994.
Also during the 2007 summit in Vegas, achievement awards will honor fest professionals for their contributions to independent film and the fest community.
The IFFS will also place emphasis on the role of branding and advertising, alternative content distribution models and new technology platforms.
An inaugural IFFS Europe will take place April 18 in London.
