Durban Festival calls for entries

South Africa competition to unspool in March

JOHANNESBURG — The Durban Intl. Film Festival, South Africa’s oldest fest, is calling for entries for its 29th edition, which will unspool July 23 to Aug. 3.

The deadline for entries for shorts and docs is March 31 and April 15 for features.

Organisers said the fest, which also has a competition, aims to present some 300 films from around the world, with a focus on South Africa and Africa.

The fest includes screenings in disadvantaged Durban township areas as part of a strategy in recent years to take groundbreaking cinema to people who would not normally have access to it.
