‘Dorian Gray’ to open NewFest

Event's lineup includes 200 films

Duncan Roy’s “The Picture of Dorian Gray” will open the 19th annual New York Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Film Festival, or NewFest, on May 31.

Fest’s lineup is comprised of more than 200 feature and short films, grouped into four focus areas: Family Dynamics: films about the reactions of straight family members to their LGBT family members; Religion: pics about the intersection of sexuality and faith; Then & Now: docs portraying older LGBT people; and Voices from the Front: films that spotlight LGBT activism.

Additional events at 11-day fest include “Another Gay Reading,” a staged screenplay reading of writer-director Todd Stephen’s upcoming sequel “Another Gay Movie 2: Gays Gone Wild,” and eight panels discussion focused both LGBT culture and the art of filmmaking.

Fest will conclude June 10 with Robert Cary’s “Save Me.”
