Documentary association honors trio

'Darfur Now' director to receive awards

The Intl. Documentary Assn. has chosen “Darfur Now” helmer Ted Braun, National Geographic VP Jocelyn Shearer and student Erin Hudson to receive awards at the org’s 23rd annual gala and benefit, to be held Dec. 7 at the Directors Guild Theater in Los Angeles.

Braun will receive IDA’s Jacqueline Donnet Emerging Documentary Filmmaker Award. “Darfur Now” is his first theatrical docu.

Shearer’s preservation and scholarship nod will honor her work with National Geographic Digital Motion, where one of her chief responsibilities includes archiving the company’s vast image database.

Hudson, a student at Stanford U., will receive the student documentary award for her graduate thesis film, “Long Haul.”
