Sales agent Cineclick Asia is reporting a surge of interest in Berlin Golden Bear winner “Tuya’s Marriage” by Chinese director Wang Quan’an.
In addition to previously announced pacts with Spain (Golem), Italy (Lucky Red), Switzerland (Frenetic Films) and the former Yugoslavia (Discovery Films), new deals have been made with Arsenal for Germany and Maywin Media for the CIS territories of the former USSR. Pretty Pictures holds rights for France, Indonesia and Benelux.
Seoul-based Cineclick also closed deals on Korean pics, including low-budget Berlinale Forum entry “Ad Lib Night” to Amuse in Japan, which is planning a fall release.
Kim Ki-duk’s 14th film “Breath” has pre-sold to 10 territories including Brazil and the CIS territories, while horror film “The Red Shoes” was sold to Brazil and “Acacia,” “Sorum” and “Fighter in the Wind” were picked up for Poland.
