Madrid de Cine aims to promote export sales
New Line Cinema, Universal Pictures U.K. and Pathe Distribution are among the buyers that will send reps to the second edition of the Madrid de Cine-Spanish Film Screenings June 10-12.
Madrid de Cine aims to promote export sales on Spanish productions and co-productions and tubthump the city of Madrid as a shooting locale.
Organized by the Fapae producers org, Madrid de Cine’s minimart will draw some 120 buyers from the U.S., Europe, Latin America and Asia, with access to 56 pic titles screening and a 150-film DVD catalog.
Other buyers include HBO, Magnolia Pictures, Venevision Intl., TLA Entertainment and LAPTV from the U.S.; the U.K.’s ThinkFilm Intl.; France’s Gaumont, Indie Circle and Ocean Films Distribution; Germany’s Senator Film and Kinowelt Intl.; Japan’s Pony Canyon; Buena Vista Intl. Latin America; and Italy’s Mikado and Medusa.
Madrid de Cine backers include Icex, the ICAA Spanish Film Institute, Madrid’s regional government and town hall and the Madrid Film Commission. Event’s budget is about $807,600.
