Pssst — wanna get in early to the Palais at Cannes for an inside track on sought-after films — for free?
Cannes will play host March 21-25 to FIMO, the second annual Festival Intl. du Making Of — devoted entirely to “making of” featurettes. Such behind-the-scenes pieces have become such a valued commodity for DVD bonus tracks and TV segs that they now sustain a five-day competitive fest and market.
MIME, the Marche Intl. du Making Of et des Effets Speciaux (Intl. Making Of and Special Effects Market), aimed at industryites, debuts this year.
Jury will be headed by Laurent Bouzareau, vet of more than 150 such pieces, including on-set coverage of Steven Spielberg and Brian De Palma.
All FIMO screenings are free and open to the public.
