BAFTA backs young British actors

Academy creates 'Under 30s Program'

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts/Los Angeles has announced the creation of the “Under 30s Program.”

The program will offer increased support for young British actors looking for film and television opportunities in the Los Angeles area by way of mentoring, screenings, events and seminars as well as other networking opportunities.

Move comes after mounting face time for young British actors and actresses on both bigscreen and small screen. England’s Michelle Ryan and Zuleikha Robinson, recent U.K. crossovers to U.S. television, have been cast in upcoming series for NBC and Fox, respectively.

The “Under 30s Program” hopes to capitalize on this growing trend and help arm British youth both onscreen and behind the camera with the essential tools and tips for making it in Hollywood.

BAFTA/LA is now accepting applications from U.K. citizens under 30 who are film and television students or employed within the business, and who have lived in Southern California for less than two years.
