The Film Society of Lincoln Center has announced dates and details for the New York Film Festival and installed two members on the selection committee.
Fest’s 45th edition will run Sept. 28 through Oct. 14. Ongoing renovations to Alice Tully Hall will move this year’s screenings a few blocks downtown to the Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center.
On the selection committee, crix Scott Foundas and J. Hoberman join fellow critic Lisa Schwarzbaum and the Film Society’s Richard Pena and Kent Jones. Their picks will be released in early September.
Foundas of L.A. Weekly and Hoberman of the Village Voice replace author Philip Lopate and Vogue critic John Powers. Lopate’s term expired and Powers bowed out due to other work commitments.
This year’s fest sidebar will honor scripter-helmer Joaquim Pedro de Andrade, a member of Brazil’s Cinema Novo movement of the 1950s and ’60s.
