Rose Kuo has been tapped artistic director for the AFI Fest. She will oversee programming and artistic vision in her new position at the Los Angeles festival.
A programming consultant specializing in Asian film, Kuo has worked for the San Francisco Intl. Film Festival, the Santa Barbara Intl. Film Festival and the Mill Valley Film Festival. She also has a background as a filmmaker, having worked as an assistant to editor Thelma Schoonmaker and a camera assistant to cinematographer Haskell Wexler.
AFI Fest is the longest-running festival in Los Angeles and takes place Nov. 1-11 this year.
