For helmer and writer Hamburger, his big international breakthrough came with his second feature, “The Year My Parents Went on Vacation,” a Gullane Filmes production that unspooled in Berlin’s 2007 competition. Previously, he created and directed local pubcaster TV Cultura’s kids series “Castle Ra-Tim-Bum” and directed the homonymous feature released in 2001.
“With the advent of so many communication tools, the international exchange of audiovisual products is a reality. I am interested in a global career,” says the helmer-scribe.
Hamburger is co-writing two features that he will direct in 2008-09: “ICU” is a Gullane production, which will be co-produced and distributed by Disney. The other feature, whose specifics have not been disclosed, is an O2 production, with Universal Pictures onboard to co-produce and distribute.
Hamburger is also raising coin for the TV documentary “A Piece of Land in Berlin,” in which he plans to gather members of his family, scattered around the world, who are the inheritors of a German property.
