Swedish film is getting an increasingly good reception on its home turf.
During the first three months of 2007, Swedish pics had a market share of 35%, up 10% from last year, and the best figure since 2001.
Four Swedish films made the top ten films for the first quarter. Most popular was comedy “Gota Kanal 2: Kanalkampen,” which despite vitriolic reviews had an audience of close to 600,000 admissions, putting it ahead of both “Casino Royale” and “The Departed.”
Other local pics in the top ten were “Suddenly” (219,000 admissions), “Mind the Gap” (205,000 admissions) and “Rosa, the Movie” (176,000 admission).
