STOCKHOLM — “Quest for a Heart,” Finland’s first ever full length toon, bowed locally this weekend to the best December opening for a Finnish family film ever.
Pic banked Euros 172,853 ($249,000), out pacing previous record holder, 1998’s “Tommy and the Wildcat.”
“Quest for a Heart,” which is written and directed by Pekka Lehtosaari, and produced by Marko Rohr, has also been made in an international version with Mackenzie Crook and Lisa Stansfield providing the voices for the leading characters.
Pic will open with 400 prints in Russia in January, and has been sold to 12 countries so far. Pic will also screen in the market at the Berlin Film Festival in February.
