Denzel Washington will present the 22nd American Cinematheque award to Julia Roberts on Oct. 12 at the Beverly Hilton.
The event, which will air on AMC Dec. 5, will include a series of in-person tributes from Roberts’ friends and colleagues, including Tom Hanks, Shirley MacLaine, Mike Nichols, Oprah Winfrey and Bruce Willis.
Washington co-starred with Roberts in the 1993 “The Pelican Brief.”
The American Cinematheque award debuted in 1986 to honor actors, directors or writers who make contributions to the art of the motion picture. Past winners include Eddie Murphy, Steven Spielberg, Michael Douglas and, most recently, George Clooney.
