Winners to be announced at L.A. Film Fest

Winners of the Target Filmmakers Awards were announced at the L.A. Film Festival’s Spirit of Independence event honoring Clint Eastwood on Thursday night.

Chris Eska won the award for narrative feature for “August Evening,” and Jennifer Venditti won for documentary with “Billy the Kid.”

The winners each will receive a cash prize of $50,000 provided by the retail store. Two juries of film experts selected the winners from the competition.

The event was organized by Film Independent, the nonprofit that produces the L.A. Film Festival. Winners of the audience award will be announced at the festival’s closing night, July 1.
