>>”Gone Baby Gone” for Amy Ryan’s fiery turn as the acid-tongued baby-mama.

>>”Grace Is Gone” for John Cusack’s tear-duct-opening role as a grieving dad of two.

>>”Margot at the Wedding” for Noah Baumbach’s painfully well-observed script.

>>”I’m Not There” for Cate Blanchett’s Venice-winning turn as Bob Dylan.

>>”A Mighty Heart” for Angelina Jolie’s powerful, complex Mariane Pearl.

>>”Starting Out in the Evening” for Frank Langella’s affecting role as a fading writer.
