'Devil,' 'Borat,' 'Dreamgirls' among finalists

Hollywood union publicists have tapped Fox’s “Borat” and “The Devil Wears Prada” along with Paramount-DreamWorks’ “Dreamgirls,” Warner Bros.’ “Happy Feet” and Universal’s “United 93” as finalists for their Maxwell Weinberg Award for top publicity campaign in 2006.

Kudos will be presented at the 44th annual Publicists Awards luncheon Feb. 7 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The PR mavens, who are repped through the Intl. Cinematographers Guild, also selected the finalists for the Maxwell Weinberg award for top TV campaign: “ER,” Warner Bros. Television and NBC; “Grey’s Anatomy,” ABC; “Jericho,” Paramount TV, CBS Television; “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” Warner Bros., NBC; and “Ugly Betty,” ABC, Touchstone Television.

Finalists for the Les Mason Award are Tony Angellotti, the Angellotti Co.; Hilary Clark, 20th Century Fox Intl.; Jeff Hare, Warner Bros.; Mary Hunter, Warner Bros. Intl.; Pat Kingsley, PMK/HBH; and Alan Nierob, Rogers & Cowan.

Finalists for the award for excellence in unit still photography are Andrew Cooper, Francois Duhamel, Melinda Sue Gordon, Zade Rosenthal and Merie Wallace.

Press award nominees are Dan Fierman, Entertainment Weekly; Elizabeth Snead, L.A. Times’ the Envelope; Anne Thompson, Hollywood Reporter; Bonnie Tiegel, Entertainment Tonight/the Insider; and Susan Wloszcyna, USA Today.

Finalists for the Intl. Media Award are Philip Berk, Malaysia/Singapore; Claude Budin-Juteau, France; Mike Goodridge, U.K.; Anke Hofmann, Australia, Germany; and Lynn M. Tso, Taiwan.
