‘Nodame’ sweeps Seoul TV awards

Feature wins best miniseries, director, music

Director Takeuchi Hideki’s “Nodame Cantabile,” which aired on Japan’s Fuji TV web, won best miniseries, helmer and music honors at the second Seoul TV Drama Awards.

Beijing JC&AL’s “The Great Revival” took home the prize for drama series and Korean pubcaster KBS’s “A Dwarf Launches a Small Ball” took the short drama award at the ceremony on Tuesday in KBS Hall in Seoul.

Australian entry “Mortified” won in the juvenile drama category, and a special jury award was presented to Bavaria Media drama “Can” from Germany.

Acting honors went to Japan’s Kimura Takuya for “The Family” and Helen Mirren for her role in “Prime Suspect 7.”

An international jury headed by Emmy Committee chairman Larry Gershman chose the awards from 130 submissions from 32 countries.

This year’s event, timed to coincide with the Broadcast Worldwide conference being held in Seoul, threw a wider international net, with submissions from India, Argentina, Ukraine, Jordan, Brazil, Germany and Belgium.
