Mexico City will host MTV’s Latin America awards, “Los Premios MTV,” for the second year in a row.
Event will take place on Oct. 18 and air live on MTV Latin America and on MTV Tr3s in the U.S. as well as other international MTV stations and select Latin American broadcasters.
Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne and Mexican rock band Cafe Tacyba are among the first confirmed acts.
“Los Premios MTV” moved to Mexico City last year after the 2005 edition was cancelled in Miami due to Hurricane Wilma.
“Last year’s show was not just an award show; it was a mega music concert with an eclectic mix of international, regional and local artists that truly reflected the tastes, culture and attitude of our audience,” said MTV Networks Latin America prexy Pierluigi Gazzolo.
Last year “Los Premios MTV” ranked No. 1 in auds age 12-34 in its timeslot across Spanish speaking Latin America.
