History Makers to fete Cronkite

CBS anchor honored for lifetime achievement

MONTREAL — Walter Cronkite will receive the History Makers’ first lifetime achievement award during the org’s confab in New York Jan. 17-19.

Event is aimed at producers and broadcasters interested in current affairs and history programming. Cronkite was anchor and managing editor of CBS’ “Evening News” for close to two decades.

History Makers exec producer Bill Nemtin said Cronkite “upholds the highest journalistic standards while communicating a sense of shared humanity with his audience. There are few journalists who have had the impact on the public that Mr. Cronkite has had over his career.”

As previously announced, British author and broadcaster David Frost will be one of the headline speakers.

Event is run by Achilles Media, which also organizes the Banff World Television Festival.
