Cinematographer, 'Into the Wild'

The Independent Spirit winner for cinematography with 2004’s “The Motorcycle Diaries,” Gautier now courts Oscar accolades with his man-for-all-seasons presentation of “Into the Wild.” Shooting in climates hot and cold, in locations snowbound and dusty, the five-time Cesar nominee from Paris all but puts the audience in the shoes of the film’s tragic hero, Christopher McCandless, carefully underscoring both the attraction and the danger of McCandless’ adventures.
