As if “Borat” hasn’t been getting plenty of attention, the movie is front and center on this year’s Oscar ballot.
Or at least the film’s title is.
Because Fox opted to list the pic’s entire moniker, in all its 12-word glory (“Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazahstan”) on the modest-sized Academy Awards ballots, “Borat” takes up several lines and effectively grabs voters’ attention — intentionally or not.
The difference in ballot real estate is especially evident when compared to more economical titles like “The Queen” and “Dreamgirls.”
Whether this lends “Borat” any real advantage remains to be seen. But it’s a title not easily overlooked as Academy members complete their ballots ahead of the Feb. 20 deadline.
