The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has issued campaign regulations that strongly encourage the reduction of mail. Companies are advised to consolidate multiple mailings into one, allow recipients to opt out of mailings, and use email whenever possible.
Companies will be able to post downloadable copies of screenplays on an Academy website for members to access instead of mailing them. Also, music may no longer be sent to members of the Academy (Daily Variety, Aug. 7).
“We hope this change in the regulations will encourage companies to be more thoughtful and conservation-minded,” Acad prexy Sid Ganis said.
