Sundream taps Wong distrib chief

Exec will be responsible for film sales, strategy

HONG KONG — Veteran Hong Kong distribution exec Nan Wong has joined production and distribution group Sundream Motion Pictures as general manager of distribution.

Wong, who spent 20 years with Buena Vista partner Intercontinental Film Distributors, will be responsible for film sales, strategy and releasing. She also will spearhead Sundream’s acquisition of foreign movies for the Hong Kong market.

Sundream, headed by Tsui Siuming, was set up two years ago as the movie arm of Hong Kong cabler and pay TV group I-Cable. It has already been involved in production and financing of movies including the epic “Battle of Wits” and crimer “Eye in the Sky.” Its upcoming titles include Andy Lau starrer “The Three Kingdoms” and Sammo Hung vehicle “Howling Arrow.”

While company’s initial focus was on production, ambition has always been to expand into video and theatrical distribution for Hong Kong and into international film sales.
