HONG KONG — Singapore is to inject S$350,000 ($230,000) into its animation industry.
Coin, provided by the Media Development Authority, will be administered by the Singapore Film Society.
The Animated Short Film Initiative, unveiled Monday, will provide up to $9,900 for films of less than 15 minutes and $26,400 for films of up to half an hour.
SFS aims to support ten shorter films and five longer ones.
“Animation is a high strategic priority for SFS and for Singapore,” Kenneth Tan, SFS chairman, said. “ASFI will seed and catalyze both production and con-sumption.”
The Animated Short Film Initiative is a one-off financing exercise, though SFS programming manager Dave Chua hopes it will be continued in future years.
