CANNES — Maverick Red, the L.A.-based genre arm of Maverick Pictures, has set “Paradise Lost,” a remake of a Swedish zombie horror pic, as the first production under its new alliance with Sweden’s Grindhouse Pictures.
Producers on the retread are Maverick Red’s Eric Thompson, Mark Morgan and Guy Oseary and Grindhouse’s Christian Hallman. Location scouting for a South Carolina shoot is now under way.
“Lost” sees a brother searching for his missing sister, only to find she has been turned into a zombie.
Maverick Pictures is in post on the English-language remake of Korean hit “My Sassy Girl,” starring Elisha Cuthbert and Jesse Bradford, and is developing properties including “Labyrinth,” a remake of a French pic, set to star and be produced by Hilary Swank, for Summit Entertainment.
