Guttentag's satire about reality TV stars Mendes
BERLIN — Fortissimo Films has picked up world rights outside North America to “Live!,” a satire about reality TV from Chuck Roven’s Mosaic Media Group.
Pic, helmed by Bill Guttentag, stars Eva Mendes as an ambitious TV exec determined to get gameshow contestants to play Russian Roulette for real on her show. Co-stars include David Krumholtz and Andre Braugher. Pic was produced by Roven, Alex Gartner and William Green.
Deal was announced as first collaboration between the Hong Kong- and Amsterdam-based sales agent and the prolific U.S. shingle. Roven’s credits include “12 Monkeys,” “Scooby-Doo” and “Batman Begins.” Fortissimo got into the Guttentag business only last month when at Sundance it picked up world rights outside China to “Nanking,” Guttentag and Dan Sturman’s docu-like account of the 1937 “Rape of Nanking.” Pic stars Woody Harrelson and Mariel Hemingway.
