‘Dance’ does Singapore

English-language film stars Jason Scott Lee

Production gets under way today in Singapore on “Dance of the Dragon,” the first movie from Easternlight Film Prods., an offshoot of Los Angeles- and Sydney-based sales outfit Arclight Films, that is tapping the city state’s coin for pictures “made by Singapore.”

English-language romantic actioner, which combines martial arts and ballroom dancing, is made on a budget of $4 million and will star Jason Scott Lee, South Korea’s Jang Hyuk (“Windstruck,” “Volcano High”) and local model-turned-actress Fann Wong (“Just Follow Law”).

Max Mannix will helm, John Radel is cinematographer, and Robin Leong exec produces. All are Easternlight Film principals.

The Film in Singapore! fund, overseen by the Singapore Tourism Board, can provide up to half the budget for qualifying movies and TV series.

Movies backed to date include Wee Li Lin’s “Gone Shopping,” Woffles Wu’s “Singapore Dreaming” and Rakesh Roshan’s Bollywood superhero hit “Krrish.”

Arclight has pre-sold “Dance” in territories including the U.K., Germany, France and Japan.
