Core drawn to ‘Untold Beauty’

Story centers on an embalmer whose girlfriend dies

BERLIN — Korean production and sales group the Core Studio has picked up international rights to “Untold Beauty,” a romantic horror story set somewhere between this life and the next.

Pic was unveiled in Pusan by production house Shooting Gallery Motion Pictures, which had previously gathered together half of the $1 million budget from a group of Singaporean embalmers.

Story follows a young man who embarks on a career in embalming, but loses his cool when his girlfriend arrives on his slab.

Pic is the directorial debut of Roy Lim, a producer-distrib who previously operated Rebel Productions, a specialty horror label which handled “Audition” and “Dark Water” in Singapore.

The Core’s EFM also lineup includes black comedy “No Mercy for the Rude” and romantic comedy “Zig Zag Love.”
