BERLIN — Korean sales agent Cineclick Asia has picked up international rights to Chinese movie “Tuya’s Marriage,” which gets its world preem in the Berlin fest competition. Cineclick holds rights outside China, Indonesia, French-speaking territories and Benelux.
Pic, about a determined young woman and her suitors in Inner Mongolia, was hel-med by Wang Qang’an.
Cineclick has repped many of South Korea’s leading pics, including Venice winner “3 Iron” and all-time Korean B.O. record holder “The Host.”
“Tuya’s Marriage” is only the second non-Korean pic it has picked up and will be the first it presents in completed form. Its first foreign pickup, “Opium War” by “Osama”-helmer Siddiq Barmak has been repeatedly delayed and will now lense at the end of the year.
