Alix Jr. wraps ‘Batanes’

Philippino director's 'Donsol' is nominated for Oscar

Adolfo Alix Jr., helmer of “Donsol,” the Philippines candidate for the foreign-language Oscar, has recently wrapped romancer “Batanes.”

Pic about a woman torn between memories of her dead husband and the chance at new love with a Taiwanese fisherman she meets on a picturesque island stars Taiwanese pop star Ken Zhu — a member of the band F4 — and Iza Calzado (“The Echo”).

Movie is produced by Arleen Cuevas and backed by Ignite Media, a leading Filipino post-production house that returns to the production sector after a hiatus.
