Indie distributor nabs rights to Thai horror film

HONG KONG — New indie distributor 24 frames has acquired North American rights to Thai horror flick “Alone” (“Faet”) for its extreme label.

Pic is the second from co-directors Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom, whose debut feature “Shutter” was a left field hit in 2005 and has been picked up for remake by Vertigo Entertainment and 20th Century Fox.

As part of its deal with producer GMM Tai Hub, 24 frames has also acquired English-language remake rights to “Alone.” Story involves a woman who is haunted by spirit of her dead Siamese twin.

24 frames LLC is recently launched LA-based distributor focusing on thriller and horror titles headed by former Buena Vista Home Entertainment SVP Ludo Cremers. Sales and acquisitions for the firm are headed by another Buena Vista Int’l alumnus Jesus De Sica. Company says it plans to launch additional labels for the Latin and gay and lesbian market segments.
