YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Well, well, well, it looks like former Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd will soon be packing up his massive and famous library on all things paranormal. Back in mid-September Your Mama told the children about Dan Aykroyd and Donna Dixon’s Hollywood Hills house when it was available to lease at $35,000 per month, dizzying floral kitchen wallpaper included. Now, the “New England style” house has hit the market for sale with an asking price of $4,200,000.

Ya’ll might recall that the house has quite a celebrity history having once been owned by both Ringo Starr and Cass Eliot, better known as Mama Cass. According to Mister Aykroyd, the house is also home to ghosts, perhaps even with the spirit of big Mama Cass herself.

Your Mama does not have a clue where Mister Aykroyd and his famous family are moving children, so don’t even ask. Our research uncovered that they own several other houses including a place in New York, reportedly a place in Canada, and another big house in Hollywood that he co-owns with Peter Aykroyd, his psychic researcher brother.

So worry not puppies, the Aykroyds have plenty of options.

OMG, it’s that horrendous kitchen again. I don’t mind wallpaper if done right – a nice pale bamboo textured wall can be lovely and serene. But this floral crap on the ceiling is just offensive.

Nobody is going to even consider this property if they leave it as is. Not many people will be able to see past the old decor.

The exterior reminds me of Sharon Tate’s house – the one where the Manson family came calling. To me, it has a creepy vibe.

“available to lease at $35,000,000 per month”

35 Million per month does seem a little steep. 30 million… maybe, but 35? No way.

Anonymous (2:55) is right. This is at least the third (maybe 4th time) the Akroyds have put this house on the market. They shouldnt pack their bags yet (though they dont live there). Also, excuse my French but the house is BUTT UGLY. It was last redone in glorious 1970″s style, with pitched cielings, oak, shag carpeting and yes wallpaper too.
Only in L.A. could this pass for history>

The Aykroyd’s have put this house up for sale numerous times. I remember they put it up for sale sometime around 1998-2000 and it didn’t sell then and I think they are going to have a tough time selling it now.

So_Chic_Darling, I’ve noticed the same thing with wallpaper. It’s the old everything that goes around comes around. If you don’t ever change anything fashion wise, you’ll be totally in AND out every twenty years. Whereas the nubs of my fingers are to the bone from scraping wallpaper. And, please dear, don’t close the Iroquois. That’s where I stay when I’m in town.

    Mama! Are you hung over?
“better know and Mama Cass.” and “available to lease at $35,000,000 per month”
Slow down, Mama! You’ll only have to edit this stuff when you get a nice gay book deal!

  9. Just one more thought, boutique hotels,is there anything we can do to get rid of them?Is there some law or something we could pass to outlaw them?

  10. I wish somebody would do something about the wallpaper problem, yes this house is an obvious offender, but because whenever you open a shelter magazine these days there’s fucking wallpaper everywhere! No your home should not look like a boutique hotel lobby or a trendy Thai restaurant in downtown New York! There are plenty of shades of white Ralph Lauren paint to handle any decorating conundrum.

They not only have plenty of options, Mama. They have plenty of nerve too. $35,000 per month for a rental is laughable. NO place is worth that much money every month.

The rich won’t be rich long shelling out the kind of money they do for designer this, designer that and housing prices that make me snicker. I consider the rich stupid for literally buying into status.
