Toho to beam revue perf in theaters

Takarazuka show to be seen in Japan

Fans of the all-femme Takarazuka Troupe will be able to see a perf beamed to seven Toho theaters by fiber-optic lines.

Takarazuka Creative Arts, which produces TV broadcasts, software and other content for the troupe, plans to relay a perf from Tokyo’s Takarazuka Theater on Dec. 24.

The show will feature the final appearance of retiring Takarazuka star Sumire Haruna in the musical “Adieu Marseilles” and the musical revue “Love Symphony.”

The broadcasts will be transmitted from a data center to the theaters via fiber-optic lines, stored in a server in the theater and then beamed to auds.

In Tokyo and Nagoya, Toho will use dedicated lines from NTT Communications; in Osaka, lines from NTT West.

Both Toho Cinemas and Takarazuka Creative Arts are members of the Hankyu-Toho group.
