Disney to offer content in Asia through mioTV
SEOUL — Disney will launch the first video-on-demand version of its Jetix kids’ channels in Asia on Singapore’s mioTV platform.
Jetix OnDemand will cost 6.42 Singapore dollars ($4.20) per month and carry 20 hours of content with a 25% refresh rate each month.
Channel is one of nine “rent-a-pack” webs on mioTV. Platform was launched this month by Singapore Telecom on its Broadband Internet network.
Service kicks off with original Jetix shows including “W.I.T.C.H.,” “Get Ed,” “Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!” and “Alpha Teens on Machines.”
“This is the first Jetix-branded SVOD service in Asia, and we’re pleased that, through mio TV, kids in Singapore can now enjoy Jetix shows that are 100% pure action, cheeky humor and heroic adventures,” said Laura E. Wendt, VP and managing director of Walt Disney Television Intl. (Southeast Asia).
Elsewhere in Asia, Jetix-branded program blocks are broadcast in India, Japan, Malaysia and South Korea.
