Animated film is first for Perro Verde
Spanish toonhouse Perro Verde will pioneer simultaneous distribution in Spain on its first animated feature, “Going Nuts,” helmed by Juanjo Ramirez and skedded for multiplatform release May 25.
Perro Verde will bow “Going Nuts” theatrically in Madrid, Barcelona and the Canary Islands.
Worldwide multilanguage Internet distribution will be handled by Spanish movie VOD Web site Filmotech.com.
Perro Verde will offer mail-order DVD sales from its Web site. U.S.-based Breakthrough Distribution will service DVD retail distribution.
Perro Verde will shortly close a DVD retail deal with a major Spanish department store chain.
It also aims to ink midnight May 25 broadcasts on national, regional and digital terrestrial TV webs, said “Going Nuts” producer Manuel Cristobal.
The simul-bow meshes with pic’s target adolescent auds and its budget, which Cristobal describes as “peanuts.”
A psychiatric asylum horror-actioner, characters in “Going Nuts” are made out of nuts, natch.
“Going Nuts” is sold internationally by Spain’s 6 Sales. Its overseas Internet distribution can be blocked territorially, if buyers require, by Filmotech’s digital rights management technology, Cristobal added.
