Koreans launch MTView

Online companies kick off joint venture

Five of South Korea’s leading online media companies, including MTV Networks and leading UCC service Pandora TV, have agreed to jointly launch an ambitious multimedia network to be called MTView.

The project brings together MTV, Bugs (musicvideos), Empas (Internet search), Joins.com (news) and Pandora TV (user-created content) to providebranded and user-uploaded text and video.

The network will play host to an estimated 15 million online viewing streams, and will have a potential reach of 23 million registered members.

The service marks a significant expansion for MTV Boombox, which was launched in May 2006 as Asia’s first MTV-branded broadband network, and the first video-based online music community in South Korea.
