Variety, AMC to cover festivals

New site kicks off with Cannes Film Festival

Variety and AMC have launched, a Web site dedicated to the year-round business and red-carpet pleasures of film festivals.

Site, which kicks off as the 60th Cannes Film Festival gets under way, will also live prominently on the homepage and will contain:

  • Original video content produced by AMC

  • Cannes blogs from Variety staffers Anne Thompson and Dana Harris

  • All Cannes reviews

  • Breaking Cannes news

  • Cannes features, lineups and company profiles expands on the success of AMC’s “Sunday Morning Shootout,” hosted by Variety editor-in-chief Peter Bart and Peter Guber.

“Variety and AMC are dedicated in their commitment to being the most accurate and timely resource for festival content worldwide,” said Charlie Koones, president and publisher of Variety.

“ will provide a multi-platform infrastructure that will link our viewers and the industry with the most important directors, producers and actors,” said AMC general manager Charlie Collier.

At Cannes, AMC and Variety will be hosting a launch event presented by the Maybach Family Foundation.
